Course Details

IMG_6150You can purchase an early swim time for $25 when you register on ActiveWorks for the TriTheKenai. Early swim time assignments are based on registration date and time. The money raised is used to support our targeted charities. The swim portion of the event will consist of 500 yard swim in the Skyview Pool. A total of 20 lengths, or 10 laps if you prefer to count them that way! Volunteers will count laps and keep times. Swimmers will be notified when they have 1 lap remaining.

The bike portion of the event will consist of 10 miles of highway racing. The highway will NOT be closed for this event, and bikers will be required to obey all traffic laws and traffic control devices (stop signs, traffic lights, flaggers). The course begins in the parking lot of the Skyview Middle school and travels south on the Sterling Highway (going towards Homer). Bikers will turn right onto Echo Lake Road. A race volunteer will be at this intersection to prevent racers from continuing on to Homer. Racers will continue on Echo Lake Road to Gaswell Road, and then on to K Beach Road. Another volunteer will be at this intersection. Bikers will remain on the right side of the roadway and continue on to the Sterling Highway. There is a traffic light at this intersection, as well as another one of our volunteers. Turn south on the Sterling Highway and return to the Skyview Middle School. It is the school at the top of that long hill in front of you. Return to the Skyview Middle School parking lot.

The run portion of the 5k (Sprint) and 10k (Intermediate) events will be run on the Tsalteshi Trails behind Skyview Middle School.9 Both trail runs will be well marked and our volunteers will be along both routes.

If you’ve never run (Youth & Adult) or ridden (Youth) on these trails before, Tony and Angie will be available on Saturday evening, June 13, at 6:00 p.m. to go over the course with you. Meet them in the parking lot of Skyview Middle School.

This optional meeting will be especially helpful for our young triathletes, but all age triathletes are welcome. Bike riders must wear their helmets – no exceptions! Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
